Thank you for expressing interest in joining WhatsApp Penton
This group enables residents and friends of Penton to share urgent issues and facilitate helpful, friendly and positive communication. It sits alongside other methods such as flyers, facebook and noticeboards but its advantage is that it is quicker and easier for some.
- Share important information, including lost or found pets
- Ask for, or offer, help or support and local recommendations e.g. trades people
- Share news & information about activities in Penton & the surrounding area
- Assist those new to the village
- Share local knowledge, such as road closures
- Very occasionally offer items to give away or for sale – N.B. this is not a market site
If you are not sure about posting on the site, ask yourself these three questions:
- Is this relevant? 2. Is this necessary? 3. Is this a good time to post?
Here are some do’s & don’ts. This may seem overly formal however it is common practice in WhatsApp groups such as this. As messages are not screened before being posted, there needs to be clear guidelines. A moderator may remove unsuitable or offensive messages.
In the unlikely event that a person repeatedly and knowingly ignores the guidelines they will be removed from the group by the moderators.

| If someone asks a question, only answer if you know the answer, not with “I don’t know”. | Never use the group to air grievances. If you have an issue, address it directly with the relevant person. Most importantly: – no arguing, personal attacks, bullying or offensive language. |

The group is public – protect your own & others privacy. You will be sharing your mobile number with others on the group. The minimum legal age for joining WhatsApp is 13 but this group should be for adults only.
